O2’s Top Ten List for 2009
What follows are the things of my “vocation” that refined and shaped my character this year. All of them while not all being necessarily pleasant have made me a more intentional leader.
Leaves
I have a couple of neighbors who complained to someone who told someone else who told me that they are not happy about me…
Afraid
I had made a big promise to someone I care a lot about and had gotten their hopes up…
Vocation
Vocation. A calling. Think voice, vocal.
God is always, always calling to us.
Inviting us to join him in some cool adventure.
Lost
I had been working hard, keeping focused on the next bit of climbing and trying not to fall off or slide down beautiful big rocks of granite that like sandpaper would have ripped my clothes and skin because of a missed step or a momentary lack of concentration.
Fully Human
All of the good leaders I can name have at least one consistent, common characteristic – self-awareness.
High Centered
I get high centered. Stuck. While I avoid the alcohol, I incite frustration, mental sweat and negative words that seem to only dig a deeper hole in which I can bury myself.
